Great News!
On April 28, 2004, our LMS plan was formally review by the state and FEMA.  One of our LMS staff met with the FEMA and state representatives and specifically reviewed our plan in relation to each required criteria.  When the review was complete, we received word that the plan was “…an approvable plan once the plan has been adopted by all jurisdictions represented in the plan…” On June 4, 2004 we received formal written notification of such for our LMS plan.  The approvable plan is located in the link to the right “FEMA Approved LMS Plan-final draft.”  We are moving forward in all our jurisdictions to get the plan adopted in the next several weeks, so look for the LMS Plan adoption item on the various government board meeting agendas.  You may contact the various government organizations for specific information on the agenda item.  Those that will be moving forward to adopt the plan are:

Escambia County
City of Pensacola
Town of Century
Santa Rosa Island Authority
School District of Escambia County
Escambia County Utilities Authority

We want to thank everyone involved in the LMS plan development, the LMS group worked very hard to get all the information put together.  We also must remember, we certainly are not finished with the plan.  There is still some data to be collected and Federal criteria to be met and we must continue to work hard to fill those gaps.  We must also remain vigilant in maintaining and updating the plan year after year as FEMA will require our plan to undergo a formal review every five years.

Our LMS meetings are open to the public, we encourage everyone interest to attend and participate in our process.  Our efforts are for the benefit of our citizens; we want you, our community residents and visitors, to help provide us the direction that provides you the most benefit from our activities.

We encourage comments and feedback from anyone willing to take the time and fill out a very brief form at the link to the right.  We read and address every comment.

We look forward to seeing you at our next meeting!
